The Fallout Franchise

Caution: I'd like to let you know that there may or may not be inconsisenties or accidental misinformation, so please take a lot of this for a grain of salt just in case! :3

Here is my shrine of the Fallout franchise! ^^
I really like Fallout and I first experienced it pretty young (even before I understood references..)

So Here I will info dump with the information from the independent wiki (if not, fandom wiki >:C )

And once I finish with that, I think I will give some fun facts and maybe some things I like about the games I played or what characters I like :3

Okay, here is the summary from the wiki on the idea of the Fallout franchise ^^

falloutdiv

The Fallout Series is a franchise of post-apocalyptic role-playing games created by Interplay Entertainment, and subsequently purchased and continued by Bethesda Softworks.

The franchise's timeline stretches from pre-War years, to the "future of the fifties," to the decades following the destruction of the earth by nuclear war.

With the goal of exploring ideas revolving around a futuristic, post-nuclear world, the game setting exists on a timeline that branched after World War II.

This fork led to a world where technology progressed quickly while maintaining the cultural norms of the mid-century.

Fallout (One)

Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game is a computer roleplaying game developed by Interplay Entertainment and its division Dragonplay (later Black Isle Studios). It released on October 10, 1997.

The game begins in the year 2161, set in the post-apocalyptic world resulting from the "Great War": a nuclear exchange between China and America on October 23, 2077.

The war lasted less than two hours but devastated North America. In the years before the War, American company Vault-Tec constructed underground Vaults where some citizens - and now their descendants - live safe from the harsh post-War conditions above.

One of these vaults, Vault 13, has a serious problem: its water chip, an electronic device responsible for water recycling, needs to be replaced. The overseer of Vault 13 tasks one of the residents, the "Vault Dweller", with finding a replacement.

With the lives of all in Vault 13 at stake, the protagonist heads out of the Vault and into the remains of California to find another water chip before the Vault runs out of water...

Funfact: you can find an easter egg among one of the special encounters in the game, one of them being the TARDIS from the series Doctor who that would slowly disappear.

Fallout 2

Fallout2img

"Arroyo is suffering from the worst drought on record. Faced with this hardship, the village elder asks the direct descendant of the Vault Dweller, referred to as the Chosen One, to retrieve a Garden of Eden Creation Kit, or G.E.C.K, for the village. This device can create thriving communities out of the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

After completing the Temple of Trials, the Chosen One is given the Vault Dweller's jumpsuit, a RobCo Pip-Boy 2000 device, a Vault 13 water flask, and some money to start their journey. During their travels, they learn of an entity known as the New California Republic that seeks to spread its borders and directly encounters a mysterious technologically advanced organization known as the Enclave.

Returning to Arroyo reveals the village residents were either killed or kidnapped by the Enclave, along with the inhabitants of Vault 13, to serve as human test subjects. The Enclave has modified Forced Evolutionary Virus into an airborne pathogen, intended to exterminate those who have genetic mutations, which includes the majority of the wasteland's population. The Chosen One must commandeer an oil tanker to reach the Enclave's main base on an offshore oil rig to save the imprisoned wastelanders and kidnapped village people, including the village elder."

Fun fact: The talking heads in Fallout 1 and 2 were originally clay models before they would be made into the game.

Fallout 3

Fallout 3

"The game begins in 2277, 200 years after the Great War. The ruins of Washington, D.C. is now referred to as the Capital Wasteland and serves as the game's setting.

The player takes the role of the Lone Wanderer, who grew up in Vault 101 and has left to search for their missing father, James. Along the way, the Lone Wanderer attempts to survive the threats of the wasteland while battling or aiding factions that all strive to accomplish opposing goals."

Fallout 33
fun fact: Fallout 3 is when it is first implied that synths exist (for ones new, basically synths are humanoid robots that would slowly become more human as the models improved, their existence would be controversial(ingame) in Fallout 4).

p.s : They existed before Fallout 3, but were basically robots and were never legitimate synths if you get what I mean.

Fallout 4

Fallout 4

"The player is the Sole Survivor of Vault 111, referred to as Nate and Nora. The player can customize the Sole Survivor's name, gender and appearance.

Fallout 4 begins on October 23, 2077, the day of the Great War. It shows the player living with their spouse and infant son, Shaun. When sirens ring out, the family runs to the nearby Vault 111, where they are cryogenically frozen for over 200 years.

They awaken to witness the murder of their spouse and abduction of their child, with the story following their efforts to find those responsible and reunite with their child. The story of Fallout 4 guides the player into its world beginning in 2287, discovering leaders of different factions with varying views of synths.

These include Preston Garvey of the Minutemen which lacks a strong opinion on synths, Desdemona of the pro-synth The Railroad, Arthur Maxson of the anti-synth Brotherhood of Steel and the leader of the Institute behind the synths, "Father." (wow that was longer)

Fallout 44
Fun fact: Diamond city (the main popular city in Fallout 4) celebrates Christmas, allowing decorations and some NPCS can say some interesting lines like the guards in Diamond city saying: "It's Halloween, but do we get any candy? No."

Fallout: New vegas

Fallout New vegas

"The player character, known as the Courier, is intercepted by Benny and two Great Khans on their way to deliver a package containing the Platinum Chip to New Vegas.

The Courier regains consciousness in the Goodsprings Cemetery, where Benny steals the chip, shoots them twice in the head, and leaves them for dead in a shallow grave.

They are rescued by a robot named Victor, who transports them to Doc Mitchell, saving their life. Once recovered, the Courier sets out to find those responsible."

Fallout New vegasgif

Fun fact: with the Wild wasteland perk, you can find many references to other pieces of media :D

Alongside some Doctor who references I like, two ones I know being "EXTERIMATE!" that Securitrons would say once they laser zap a npc that tries to break into the strip without permission. EXTERIMATE! being a reference to the Daleks in the Doctor who universe.

As for the 2nd one, that would be "Not your mummy" being a graffiti sign in The Dead Money dlc. Not your mummy being a reference to an episode In doctor who named: "The Empty Child."

Fun fact: Among Vault 33, When their water chip got destoryed, that would be a big reference to the Fallout (one)'s main objective in the game.

Random me things related to Fallout!

Here is some random opinions I have that I will pretend someone asked me despite me making it all up MWEHEHEHEH >:D

Favorite Fallout game: I personally enjoy a mix of Fallout new vegas, Fallout (one), and Fallout 3 the most! :D
If you think otherwise, thats totally okay too :3

falloutdiv2

Favorite Fallout characters: There is A LOT I like, but some ones I'm low key attached to is..
Harold (Fallout 1,2,3), John Hancock (Fallout 4), Arcade Gannon and Ed-E (Fallout:NV), The Master (fallout 1), and Frank Horrigan (Fallout 2).

falloutdiv2

Kind of weapons I tend to use: I often use a mix of Energy weapons and melee weapons the most!

falloutdiv2

What fallout games have I played and not played?: The following ones I've played is.. Fallout 1, Fallout 2 (in progress), Fallout 3 (Haven't played dlc), Fallout 4 (Haven't played dlc), and Fallout: New vegas, andddd.. the Fallout mobile game and also watching the show :3

The ones I haven't played however is Fallout tactics, Fallout 76, Brotherhood of steel, and generally not the other extra games I'm so far aware of.

falloutdiv2

If I was asked what game someone new should play first: In my opinion, I think fallout 4 should be played first by most players since fallout 4 has more appealing gameplay that fits with most people.

As much as I love the other games, they are a tad bit older and new players can find themselves dealing with crashes, lag, or controls that can be confusing at first.

falloutdiv2

(mini explaining: Bethesda is the one who made Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and generally the one who owns the Fallout franchise.

As for Interplay Entertainment, they made the original Fallout, and later Black Isle studios that would later proceed to make Fallout 2.

And as for Obsidian, they are the one who made Fallout new vegas, mostly using the Fallout 3 models to create Fallout New vegas due to the limited time. )

Opinions on Bethesda+Obisdian+Interplay entertainment/Black Isle studios: When speaking of Interplay entertianment/Black Isle studios (the ones who created fallout in the first place), I do really appreciate how they made a game I like a lot come true in the first place :3

As for Obsidian and Bethesda, I do have mixed opinions on them, Although I appreciate that Bethesda continued the Fallout franchise that we know today (alongside Obsidian making Fallout new vegas), I do feel like Fallout is loosing its subtle horror elements and slowly pulling out the eerie atmosphere we knew in the older games and the grimy feel.

Though regardless of that, I do still appreciate what they put out today and still enjoy their content, its just that there is some things that I feel a bit picky about and wished what could've been.

falloutdiv2

What I wished I did earlier in Fallout: When playing Fallout 4 for the first time in a long time (first played when really young), I NEVER used the VATS.

(for mini info, basically VATS is a way to focus on your enemies with a weapon easier with more critical damage)

Although I didn't know what it was at first, it could've been so helpful for me in the long run since I had to deal with bugs that can have tedious hit boxes. T_T
